Haiu (Charisse Chehovich) - Cabin Counselor
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Campers,
Welcome to another summer at Camp Y-Owasco. I am Charisse Britni Chehovich, or known at camp as Haiu (“Hey You”). So can you get to know me a little better, I am turning 19 this summer, and just finished my first year at Canisius College in Buffalo. In high school I was involved in Latin Club, Chemistry Club, National Honor Society, and French Club. I am on the high honor roll, and was involved in several sports such as cross-country and track and field. I have won several athletic awards, a Fingerlakes Scholar Award, and one of my greatest achievements, the female Counselor-of-the-Year Award from Camp Y-Owasco in 2009.
At Canisius, I major in Chemistry. I currently reside in Auburn, New York where I grew up. My hobbies include running, hiking, reading, sports, and being in the outdoors.
Ever since I was a child, I have been going to camp. As a camper I thought Camp Y-Owasco was the greatest place on Earth, and as I got older, I still believe this. I work at camp because it is the best job I could ever dream of having. I want to give back to the camp what it gave to me as a camper. Camp Y-Owasco taught me about respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty all while having fun and staying safe. I made friends that I still have to this day, and this is exactly what I hope to give back to your camper!
