Jane Doe (Liz Mahoney) - Cabin Counselor
Born in Auburn New York, I am Jane Doe (aka Liz Mahoney or J.D.) and I am very excited to be a counselor at Camp Y-Owasco again! 2011 will be my second summer on staff. I am 19 now, but when I was 17 I moved to Manhattan to attend Hunter College where I am studying for a degree in Economics as well as being a member of the Cross Country and Track teams. In the past year I was able to participate in the NCAA meets as well as living out one of my dreams by running at Madison Square Garden. As only a freshman I was the Most Valuable Player of the Cross Country and Indoor track teams, and I was able to continue my athletic success throughout my sophomore year. Outside of running, I am a huge Mets, Giants and Rangers fan and I love to cook and paint. I have two cats and two fish.
Now back in Auburn for the summer, I am working at Camp Y- O not only as a chance to “get back to nature” after spending the last 10 months in a large city but also as a chance to build great relationships with campers and counselors alike as I spend my summer at such a great place. My final quote from my favorite movie “Harvey”, and the words I try to live by, "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant.”
