Tired of boring summer jobs?
Want to MAKE A DIFFERENCE??
Want to be the COOLEST person in the entire world???
Camp Y-Owasco hires 38 staff every year to work at "The Greatest Place on Earth" and "Owasco Lake's Best-Kept Secret" to provide "Adventure Every Day" for over 100 kids. Working here is more than just another summer job!
As a Camp Y-Owasco Counselor, you will:
* Teach, Lead, and Lift others
* Have Fun
* Make a potentially HUGE difference in the life of a child, thus changing the world for the better.
* Automatically be the coolest person in the world to your campers from day one JUST for being their counselor.
This isn't your typical summer job.
We'll be straight with you:
Counselors get dirty. Counselors deal with bugs. They work long hours. They work in all types of weather. They have to have a weird nickname. They are expected to be prompt and at work every day camp is in session. During resident camp and sleepovers, they live at camp. Time off is short. They may have to do things that people who are their age typically don't even think about doing--from eating pasta with their faces to staying up extra late to cure some homesickness. It's a big sacrifice and a lot of work, and, to top it all off, the pay isn't even all that great.
The rewards aren't typical either.
It pays off!
Even with the dirt, bugs, hard work, long hours, and spaghetti in their faces, in the end, our staff say it's worth it! They go away missing camp and wanting to come back. They have the time of their lives and make new friends to stay in touch with for years to come. They work for a purpose and make a difference in the future. They learn new skills. They leave with invaluable experience that has prepared them for hundreds of new challenges that life may throw at them. Confidence, self-esteem, and social skills all get better, paving the way for more good friends, increased grades in school, and more successful job interviews. Best yet, many notice a difference in their personality, and they like it.
